The theme for New Brunswick Heritage Week 2012 is celebrating “War and Peace in New Brunswick” in recognition of Canada’s bicentennial of the War of 1812. The Carleton County Historical Society invites everyone to explore Carleton County’s military heritage at Connell House starting Tuesday February 14th through to Friday February 17th from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. The exhibit at Connell House contains artifacts such as military uniforms, badges, swords, guns, flags, and historical photos taken in Woodstock of local service men during the second Bore War, WWI & WWII. Also, an educational DVD will be available for the public to watch regarding WWI and WWII.
To our delight Carleton County’s Military Expert Aaron Bouma will be on hand Wednesday, Feb. 15th from 3:00 pm to 4:30pm and Thursday, Feb 16th from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm to answer all your questions.
We would like to thank the Woodstock Legion for donating some of the artifacts on display, and we would like to thank volunteer Aaron Bouma for all of his help and expertise.
